Churchill Brothers SC celebrate AFC Grassroots Day

PANJIM: Churchill Brothers Sports Club organized a grassroots football festival to celebrate the AFC Grassroots Day, at Varca Sports Club ground, recently.

It was attended by around 40 kids under the watchful eyes of the Youth Development Head Coach Alfred Fernandes along with Joao Rebello (Youth and Grassroots coach) and Edvin Moraes (Grassroots coach).
The boys were made to play 5 v. 5 in four small grounds and all the kids were involved in the game. The duration of the game was eight minutes and in between four technical stations was created by the grassroots coaches to test the ability of the players.
Shooting at target (Accuracy) and ball control, 5 v. 5 formats is used all across the World in their grassroots programmes.  
Churchill Brothers senior team manager, Denzie Ferrao took care of all the requirements at the festival venue. Water, Refreshment and medical facilities were all provided to the participating boys.
Churchill Brothers SC physio Whirl Pereira gave the participants a talk on basic knowledge about injuries and how to treat them. She also focused on how to prevent injuries and also explained about major and minor injuries.   
The festival was attended by most of participants parents and also by some locals from Varca. Churchill Brothers SC senior team head coach Joseph Afusi, who holds a UEFA Pro License was also in attendance. 
Afusi also had a brief session with the boys. Valanka Alemao, CEO and Savio Alemao, patron of Churchill Bros SC also attended the festival and interacted with the kids and their parents. They also encouraged the kids to take football as their career in future.
All the participants were handed mementos by Valanka and Savio.
