MAPUSA: Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre defended bravely to hold Youth Sports Club of Colvale in a goalless draw in Bardez zone GFA 3rd Division League match at Tivim round, Thursday.
Colvale had the psychological advantage after winning three of their previous matches but Sirsaim spoiled their party.
Sirsaim’s only real threat came in the first session when James Fernandes’ attempted cross almost dipped into the rival goal but Colvale keeper Siddharth Simepuruskar tipped over the ball to safety. Then onwards, Siddharth was a mere spectator as he watched his strikers struggle to find any openings.
Changing over, Colvale looked eager to score but skipper Drynan Pereira and medio Clandy Fernandes’ long range drives did not trouble Sirsaim custodian Warren D’Souza.
The best chance of the match came to Colvale’s Avelino Fernandes but he ballooned over from hand-shaking distance with only the rival keeper at his mercy.

PVC Parra win
At Chapora ground, Rowil Pinto and Atish Mandrekar scored in the first session to give PVC Parra a 2-0 victory over Sai Avtar Sports Club, Anjuna.
St. Anthony SC, Marna thrashed Xetrapal SC 6-1.
