PANJIM: It was a gripping day as the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2018 tournament witnessed defending champion Tejas Shevde who was untroubled as he effortlessly defeated Pranay Baheti (4-0,4-0) an inched closer to the men’s singles title. Tejas Shevde won the men’s single title for two consecutive years. Where as in the men’s singles category Deepak Nahak won against Sanjay Varak in a nail-bitingly close (4-0,4-1) battle.
The evening session saw matches played in the U-12 boys, mixed soubles and men’s Singles category.
In the U-12 boys, Puneet Phadte overpowered Nehal Sheikh with (6-2) to march into the semi-finals.
Whereas, Amar Bernard and Sophie Chowgule shone against Shaun and Shanaya (4-2, 4-2) to progress to the quarter-finals in the mixed doubles category.
In the men’s singles, Nagesh Naik battled it out against Anbu (4-1,4-1) and Yenepoya Farhaad edged over Anant Kochar (4-0,4-0).
