MAPUSA: Dempo Cricket Club continued their winning run with a comfortable 10 wicket victory over Cricket Russia in the fifth match of Goa Premier Cricket League organized Goa Cricket Association (GCA) at GCA ground, Porvorim, Saturday.
Dempo skipper Swapnil Asnodkar won the toss and elected to field first. The Russia team made a cautious start to the proceedings after losing an early wicket of Nic Britz on a duck. Thereafter, Badal Soni (18), Aditya Angle (20) and Dhiraj Narvekar (24) made some vital contributions but the middle order fell like a pack of cards and were bowled out for a mere 109. Spinner Sher Bahadur Yadav clinched three wickets while Saurab Dubey and Amit Mishra clinched two wickets each.
In reply, the defending champions chased the total in just 10.1 overs with openers Ravi Teja’s half century and Asnodkar’s 41. Teja was adjudged man-of-the-match.
