PANJIM: 55 boys participated in the Dempo Sports Club’s AFC Grassroots Festival which was held at Ella ground recently.
The boys included players from the Dempo Academy and the U-14 team of the 2019-20 season.
Dempo Red emerged winners in the baby league 6v6 format small sided games wherein five teams participated in the event.
Apart from the mini league, the club also conducted skills competition in the form of juggling, target line etc which were supervised by Asst Coaches Melwyn Rodrigues and Vaman Chari.
In the concluding speech U-14 Coach Pradeep Chopdekar and Academy Coach Remus Gomes briefed the participants on the importance of grassroots and how they build the team on the core aspect of fun and development.
Physiotherapist Aaron stressed on the basic of nutrition and gave lasting tips on its benefits.
South Goa grassroots coordinator Antonio Pereira and North Goa grassroots coordinator Alexander Fernandes were also present for the event.
