Dempo SC will be competing alongside top Indian teams like DSK Shivajians FC B, Salgaocar FC, Indian Navy, LFC-DSK Academy, Air India, Pune Football Club, Bengaluru FC, Gangtok Himalayan SC, Deccan Rovers FC, DSK Shivajians FC A, State Bank of Travancore in a league cum knock-out format.
The Golden Eagles have been drawn along with LFC-DSK Academy and Air India in Group B and will play their first match against Air India on Saturday.
Dempo SC coach Mauricio Afonso said that the tournament would give his team a perfect platform to test his side, which have been preparing for the Second Division I-league to be held in December.
“The tournament is a great opportunity to examine and analyze our strong and weak areas,” said Afonso.
Though the Goan side haven’t seen Air India play, Mauricio is confident his side will get positive result from the encounter.
“We haven’t seen Air India play but I’m sure our boys will give their best as we had a good training session in the evening,” said Afonso.
The Golden eagles are currently in third position in the Goa Pro League and will make the most out of the tournament where they will face top teams across India.
