MAPUSA: Dempo SC registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Panjim Footballers in the CAM Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium here on Wednesday.

Golden Eagles dictated right from the start but failed to score in the first session of play.
In the 13th minute, a stiff grounder by Necio Fernandes hit the far Panjim Footballers goal post and rebounded into play.
Minutes later, Aman Govekar’s placement went just past the goal post while a cracker by Vieri Colaco travelled just over the Panjim’s cross bar.
In the added time, Aman Govekar failed to score off an intelligent cross by Vieri from close.
On crossing ends, Panjim Footballers should have taken the lead but striker Doyal Alves shot skywards.
At the other end, Vieri Colaco grounder was blocked by Panjim’s keeper Preston Rego and the ball travelled to Aman Govekar whose header went just over the cross piece.
The best chance for Panjim Footballers came in the 83rd minute where a pinpoint low cross by Doyal Alves at the far end to unmarked substitute Johnson Horta saw the latter shoot wide to the dismay of his teammates and supporters.
In a counter attack, substitute Pedro Gonsalves saw his strike from close block by keeper Preston Rego.
However, finally Golden Eagles had the last laugh where a curling corner by Velancio Rodrigues dipped into the far corner of the goal 1-0.
Dempo’s Pruthvesh Pednekar received the man of the match award from Pravin Dhabolkar GFA’s Executive Committee member.
