Dempo Sports Club and Viva Kerala played out a goalless draw in the U-19 I-League football tournament, at Duler stadium, here on Monday.
Viva Kerala collected two points from two games while Dempo who lost their opening match picked up their first point.
Viva started with a 4-5-1 formation in the first half as they were cautious of the Dempo attack. In the second half they resorted to their usual 4-4-2 as they wanted to push forward and grab a goal.
Viva made one change from the team which drew against Churchill Brothers on Saturday. Jasal came in to the heart of the defence as Sadiqali was sick.
Dempo striker Myron Fernandes was out with an ankle injury and Terence Fernandes was brought in to replace him. He did not use enough of his lightning pace to trouble the Viva defence.
In the 18th minute Dempo midfielder Romeo Fernandes saw his shot from a corner hit the crossbar.
On the half hour mark, Viva’s Sudhil took a long range shot which started to dip towards the goal, but went over the bar.
After the lemon break Viva’s Jayan found himself clear on goal but Dempo goalkeeper Guendolen stopped him in his tracks.
In the 60th minute, Dempo’s Romeo collected the ball in front of the goal, but his second touch let him down and the Viva goalkeeper gathered the ball easily.
In the 66th minute, Viva custodian Abdulsalam saved an attempt from Romeo. In the 72nd minute Guendolen pulled off another fine save from Jayan.
