DULER: Dunes Sports Club and Mormugao United Clutural and Sports Club played out a goalless draw in the GFA’s U-20 Second Division League, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Tuesday.
Both the sides had their fair share of chances at scoring however their strikers seemed to run out of ideas on entering the danger zone.
In the 30th minute of play Dunes’ Faizan Shaikh brilliantly made his way past his marker, Ricky Soares only to see his firm placement being timely cleared away by the diving Mormugao custodian Pradeep Jadhav.
Dunes keeper Siridhar Pujar too proved apt for the task when he came with a superb save to deny Oliven Soares from scoring from inside the 18-yard box.
Couple of minutes later, Mormugao keeper once again came to his sides rescue when he blocked Faizan Shaikh’s effort at goal.
Crossing over, both sides confined play to the midfield for major portion with a few moves in between.
Leslee Britto was unlucky not too have scored as he came with some vicious attacks at the rival goal.
In another match, at Batim ground, Goa Velha Sports Club did well to hold Sesa Football Academy Sanquelim to a goalless draw.
It was the Sesa lads that dominated the proceedings but failed to do the all-important act of scoring.
In the early minutes of the match, Kunal Shirodkar saw his powerful shot bang the Goa Velha cross piece and bounce back into play.
In the 15th minute Malcolm Gonsalves’s shot was neatly kept away by the Goa Velha custodian.
Crossing over, Sesa were reduced to ten men when Kunal Shirodkar was give a red card by the referee for a harsh tackle on the Goa Velha player.
