CORTALIM: Fatima oys defeated Thana Boys 4-1 via tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Fatima Boys 1st Arvale football tournament, at St Philipe and James Church ground, Cortalim, on Saturday.
In the 5th minute Anthony Fernandes of Fatima Boys got a golden oppurtunity to give his team the desired lead but his attempt was not sucessful
Soon afterwards Thana Boys through Franzy Moura would have taken the lead but his right footer shot missed the rival nets in the 18th minute.
Crossing over both the teams started afresh creating chances in the rival citadel.
Roston Vaz of Fatima Boys connected with Jose Vaz but could not convert as his shot ballooned over the rival bar in the 49th minute.
There after Thana Boys tried some pressurised moves inside the Fatima Boys box but the defence lines of Fatima Boys were on impenetrable.
At full-time it was 0-0.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Fatima boys netted through Roston Vaz, Anthony Fernandes, Jose Vaz and Micheal Noronha while Franzy Moura scored the only goal for Thana Boys.
