PONDA: Parish Youth Nuvem crushed Ponda Footballers 4-1 to storm into the final of 28th All-Goa St Anne’s inter-village festival soccer in Memory of Luis Pacheco organized by Ponda Footballers in affiliation with SAG and Quadros, at Animal Husbandry ground Curti-Ponda, on Saturday.
The match was equally contested and Ponda went in search of equalized left large gaps behind. At half time Nuvem was leading by a solitary goal scored by Jerose Oliveira. In the second half Jerose, Neves and Inacio scored by Nuvem while Aaron reduced the margin for the host.
Nuvem made the first attempt when Inacio gave a through ball to Joe whose shot was saved by the Ponda Keeper Peter. Nuvem took the lead in the 7th minute of the match when Neves chipped over the defender and Jerose chipped over the advancing keeper to make it 1-0.
Ponda made a serious move when Aaron took the ball into the flanks and gave a pass to Melistan whose shot just missed the goalpost by inches.
Nuvem increased the lead when Inacio chipped from the flank and Jerose chested the ball and took a first time that beat the keeper to make it 2-0.
At the other end, Fleming from the flank chipped but Reazer’s header was punched out by Nuvem keeper.
Ponda reduced the margin when Aaron’s free kick beat the keeper to make it 2-1.
Ponda got another freekick and Melistan kick beat the keeper but it kissed the crossbar. At the other end Jerose from top of box shot was punched out by Ponda keeper.
Nuvem increased the lead as Ponda players left gaps in defence and Inacio from top of box, his shot beat the keeper to make it 3-1. Jerose gave a through ball to Neves who shot over the keeper to make it 4-1.
Jerose Oliveira of Parish Youth Nuvem was awarded the man of the match.
