AMBORA: Fatorda Veterans defeated St Anna Veterans, Goa Velha 1-0 to move into the final of the Rachol Veterans football tournament, played at Ambora ground, Camorlim, on Sunday.
In the 5th minutes of the match, Ramesh Palkar the talented defender of St Anna took control of the ball from Francisco Rodrigues and dribbled past Fatorda defenders Bobby Crasto and Agnelo Araujo and shot from the top of the box, but the rival keeper was equal to the task.
At the other end, Fatorda’s Joaquim Fernandes sent in a ball to Tony Crasto from the left flank and the latter rose high and headed a downward header to give his side the lead in the tenth minute. St Anne Abrao D’Mello’s long ranger narrowly missed the target.
Fatorda’s Santan Furtado’s power-packed shot hit the rival cross bar. Fatorda Veterans will meet Verna Veterans in the final on April 1.
