MAPUSA: Football Club Bardez humbled Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao 6-0 in the GFA’s Pro League match, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Wednesday.
With Wednesday’s win, Bardez stand with 11 points from six matches while Taleigao are still struggling at the bottom of the table with one point from six matches.
In the 21st minute, Alesh Sawant put the winners into the lead when he positioned himself well to latch on to a pass by Myron Mendes before slamming the ball home from close range, 1-0.
In the 36th minute, Bardez once again found the back of the nets when Peter Carvalho leapt above his marker to nod in Girish Naik’s curling corner, 2-0.
Two minutes into the match, Bardez were awarded a penalty by referee Prasad Surlekar when he found Taleigao defender Jesmon Carvalho guilty of viciously tackling Latesh Mandrekar inside the danger zone. Skipper Peter Carvalho made no mistake in converting, 3-0.
A minute before the halftime whistle, Taleigao keeper came with a brilliant save to deny Alesh Sawant’s long range effort.
Crossing over, Taleigao almost got a goal to their credit when Sherwin Lobo sent a defence splitting pass to Gourav Kankonkar, who tried to flick the ball into the nets, however Bardez keeper Bilai Khan did well to ward off the danger.
Bardez did not wait long and resumed their scoring antics minutes later when Taleigao keeper Rohan failed to judge the flight off Jessel Carneiro’s cross, where the ball travelled to Koko Sakibo who headed the ball in, 4-0.
Despite the huge margin, Bardez hunger for goal did not cease and they further went on to score two more, first with Myron Mendes giving finishing touches to Peter Carvalho’s spadework and the minutes later Peter himself drilled home the ball from inside the penalty area to round off the score tally to 6-0.
