AGENCIES, PUNE: Salgaocar Football Club picked up their first win of the season as they edged past DSK Shivajians FC 3-2 at the Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium, here, on Sunday.
Salgaocar took the lead in the 39th minute as Scott’s corner, cleared away only partially was connected by Haokip and deflected goalward by an alert Duffy.
Changing over, Haokip set up Duffy, who nodded in from close range.
The away side hammered the nail into the wall in the 70th minute with Duffy once again adding his name onto the score board. A lovely cross in from the second half substitute Jackichand Singh saw the entire DSK defence sleepwalk into disaster, as Duffy nodded in a sitter past the hapless Ghosh.
Soon, Baljit Sahni barged his way into the penalty box, only to be fouled by an inattentive Eder. The Cameroonian Dipanda made no mistake of smashing the ball past Karanjit from the ensuing penalty that was awarded.
He then added to the mayhem and revival charm when in the 86th minute a fantastic cross by Amiri saw Surchandra head the ball on to the far post. Dipanda then chested the ball down before slotting past a stunned Greens’ number one.
