MARGAO: Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna blanked Mount’s Mary High School, Chinchinim 2-0 to storm into the final of Salcete Taluka U-14 boys Subroto Mukerjee football tournament ,at Manora ground, Raia on Friday. Fr Agnel led 1-0 at the breather.
Silvano Oliveira put his team in front in the opening minutes. Crossing over, Johan Fernandes scored the second goal for Fr Agnel’s HS.
In the second semis, Bethany Convent came from behind to defeat Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda 6-5 via tie-breaker. Rosary opened the scoring through Shelton Araujo with a clinical finish but post resumption, Bethany equalized through Josely Moura.
The teams went head-to-head in the final quarter. In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Tennyson Fernandes, Sushant Naik, Tyson Carvalho, Mark Carvalho and Melishio Camotio scored for Bethany while Reagan Araujo, Shelton Araujo, Steve D’souza and Maxwell Furtado found the mark for Rosary. The finals will be played on July 26.
