MAPUSA: Minister for Revenue, Information Technology and Labour and Employment Rohan Khaunte was unanimously elected as the President of Goa Boxing Association during the Annual General Body Meeting of the Goa Boxing Association, at Boxing Hall, Peddem, Mapusa.
Rohan Khaunte is also the president of West Zone Boxing Association, India. Ex-boxer and national official Danuska Da Gama was elected as secretary, Hemant Nagvekar who is the Goa head of PMC Back was elected as treasurer.
Speaking to the members, coaches, and others gathered Khaunte stated that Indian Boxers have been doing well at International tournaments. He said, “There is a need to take Boxing to a much higher level in Goa and build the sport culture in the state. I wish to do all I can to help the sport in Goa, and create champions in Goa.”
Goa Boxing Association also inducted members who will form parts of various committees to take forth the vision of the association.
The newly inducted committee members include Eknath Oraskar (hotelier), Verma D’Mello (fashion designer), Ricky D’Souza (businessman) Ashish Prabhu Verlekar (chartered accountant), Ashish Bhandari (ex boxer), Macline Mendonca (PE teacher), Sangar Mangle, Bharat Humane, Sanjeev Tupkar, Mohammed Hanif and others
