PANJIM: Goa under-15 sub-junior girl’s team got off to a dream start with an 11-0 hammering of Chattisgarh at the under-15 National football championship, in Cuttack, Odisha, on Saturday. Goa led 4-0 at half time.
Captained by Flavina Rodrigues, the Goan girls shot into the lead in the 15th through a strike from India international Sushmita Jadhav. Once the citadel had been broken, it was easy going for the Goan girls.
Somaaya Mukundan, the India international took charge of the proceedings and lived up to her fearsome reputation scoring six goals, one of which was a beautifully curled free-kick that would have done the seniors proud.
Arpita Pednekar volleyed home off a Somaaya corner. The other goals came from Sushmita who scored her second goal, Beverly Cardozo and Joizima Fernandes who rounded off the tally with a simple tap in off a cross from Beverly Cardozo.
