KALYANI, KOLKATA: Goa were edged out by Kerala in a 1-2 in the Group A League at the Hero National Sub Junior Football Championship, at Kalyani, Kolkata.
Goa started the proceedings in right earnest and shot into the lead in the sixth minute.
Ashwek took a beautiful corner kick which banged into the goal by midfielder Aryan.
Kerala equalised in the 43rd minute in a goal mouth melee through Diljith P.
Hardly had the cheers died down, Kerala stunned Goa with their second goal as Kerala’s Ebindas who was a thorn in the Goa defence scored past Goa’s keeper Micky.
In the second half, Kerala held sway for the first 15 minutes. Goa keeper Micky affected two saves during this period first from Niranjan VJ and another attempt by Ebindas Y.
The Goan midfield of Romero, Aryan and Ashwek tried their best to feed their forwards but it was not their day as the ball just did not go in.
In the dying minutes, substitute Rohan saw his effort hit the goalpost.
Goa will now take on Meghalaya in their third match on Sunday.
