RAIA: Goa Velha Sports Club scored a comfortable 2-0 win over St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva, to move into the quarter-finals of 16th London Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at Goa Velha Sports Club ground, on Thursday.
Franky Cabral put Goa Velha SC ahead through his effort which landed into the Colva net in the very 4th minute of play. Goa Velha SC consolidated the lead in the 10th minute of play through Vikranth Mangueshkar.

In a one-sided encounter, Goa Velha SC missed a golden chance to score but Alme Fernandes shot straight into the hands of St Anthony’s SC keeper. Towards the fag end of the match, Joy Gonsalves played a brilliant through ball to Franky, who shot wide with only the keeper to beat.
Satish Kankonkar of Goa Velha SC was cautioned by the Match Referee Shravan Lamani for reckless tackle.
Franky was awarded the man-of-the-match award by Elvis Mendes, former president of Goa Velha SC and representative of villagers of Goa Velha based in the United Kingdom.
On Wednesday, Chandor Club scored a 6-5 win via tie-breaker over Augustias Sporting Club to move into the quarter-finals.
Chandor Club moved ahead in the 35th minute of play through Cruz Gomes, who shot home off a corner taken by Mario Fernandes. Chandor Club led by a solitary goal at the break.
Augustias SC came out with an attacking brand of soccer in the second half and managed to restore parity through Akash Parwar in the 60th minute of play.
The match ended with 1-1 scoreline.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Chandor Club converted through Mario Fernandes, Viton Fernandes, Akram Yadwad, Rizbon Fernandes and Sevaraj D’Costa. Cruz Gomes shot was saved by the Augustias SC keeper.
Augustias SC scored through Pundalik Naik, Pavan Deusekar, Rohan Naik and Bhuvan Parwar. Akash Parwar and Harsh Parwar spot kicks were saved by makeshift Chandor Club keeper Akram Yadwad.
Akram was awarded the man-of-the-match award by Jose Silva, member of Goa Velha SC based in the United Kingdom.
