PANJIM: Seven players from Goa have been selected for the Nationals after showing their brilliance in the two-day Regional Chess meet of Kendriya Vidyalya Sangathan, Mumbai region, held Kendriya Vidyalya INS Mandovi, recently.
The winners of the Mumbai Regional Chess Meet were awarded medals and certificates and have been selected for the national chess meet which will be held in Bhubaneswar in June.
Aruna P Bhalla was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Kishore Bandekar, Secretary of Goa Chess Association, Sanjay Belurkar Member of Goa Chess Association and other dignitaries.
The meet was supervised by eminent arbiters Swapnil Hoble (Chief Arbiter), Gautam Tari and Narayan Vast.
Final ranking in each category: U-14 boys:1) Ali Amanat, Vasco (4 points), 2) Rohit Gawas, Vasco (3points), 3) Ayush Naik, Mandovi (3 Points). Girls: 1) Samiksha Bhapkar, AFS Ojhar (4 Points), 2) Sharlin Satdeve, Ambernath (3Points), 3) Mridini Wankhede, Dehu Road (3Points).
U-17 boys: 1) Anvesh Bandekar, INS (Mandovi (3.5 points), 2) Sushrut Kagde , AFS Ojhar (3.5 points), 3) Praveen Shrirame, Ajni (3points). Girls:1) D. Mishka, Vasco (3.5 Points), 2) Keerthana M., Mankhurd (3 points), 3) Vaishvani Dabhade, Powai (3 points).
U-19 boys:1) Priyanshu Patil, VSN (4 points), 2) Ayush Raj, AFS Thane (3points), 3) Sumit Londhe, Aurangabad (3points). Girls: 1) Siya Golatkar, INS Mandovi (3points), 2) Issac Aksa, Vasco (3points), 3) Tanaya Sabade, Ganesh Khind (2points).
