Guardian Angel down SCC Cavelossim

MAPUSA: Guardian Angel Sports Club came with a scintillating second half display to register a 4-1 victory over SCC Cavelossim in the Goa Professional League organised by Goa Football Association, played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Guardian Angel produced a sumptuous second half performance as they scored four goals through U-20 Joval Fernandes, Yakubu Mohammad and Perryson Rebello (2) with their opponents pulling a consolation goal from the boots of Alvito Miranda.
Nothing much transcribed in the first half as play was restricted to midfield, though Guardian Angel did have some far shots at the goal through Yakubu Mohammad and Perryson Rebello which were collected by keeper Siddesh Morje, it was completely a different story on crossing over where all the goals were scored..
However, at the other end in the 62nd minute Cavelossim conceded a goal. The U-20 player Joval Fernandes collected a pass from his skipper Nicholas Rodrigues on the left covered some ground and intelligently took a loft shot which pierced the top corner of the goal, past the helpless Cavelossim keeper Siddesh Morje to receive a thundering applause from the spectators.
As the match progressed, Angel’s doubled their lead in the 73rd minute when Nigerian Yakubu Mohammad tapped the ball into the goal off a low cross from the right flank by Perryson Rebello to make it 2-0.
At the other end two minutes later, Cavelossim should have pulled a goal back, but once again Alvito Miranda was unlucky to see his tap on the run off a deadly cross by Allwyn Vaz being pushed to safety by keeper Ram Sroop, who flung to his left with an acrobatic stun.
The never say die spirit, saw Cavelossim finally score, in the 77th minute, as Alvito Miranda latched a curling 25-yard right footer which hit the back of the Angel’s nylons.
Cavelossim should have equalised in the 80th minute but this time Alvito’s weak shot at the goal off a pass from Allwyn was collected by Angel’s keeper.
It was some two brilliant goals from Perryson Rebello in the 85th and 95th minute that gave full points to the Curchorem side.
