CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem defeated Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi-Paroda 2-0 to emerge victorious at Quepem taluka in U-17 Boys Subroto Mukherjee tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Xeldem-Quepem panchayat ground, on Saturday.
Guardian Angel opened their account in the 20th minute through Austin Fernandes after Joytion Fernandes passed the ball to him.
Earlier both the sides started brightly but when Guardian Angel took the lead Damodar started mounting pressure but failed in their efforts to equalize the lead and the at the half time the score remained 1-0.
After crossing over Damodar was little aggressive but did not succeed in their efforts to neutralize the score.
Spurred by the success, Guardian Angel intensified their forays and added one more goal in when again Austin drove the last nail into rival coffin.
Earlier in the semi-finals Guardian Angel HSS defeated Pope John XXIII HSS 1-0 and Damodar HSS defeated Immaculate Conception HS, Paroda 4-3 to reach the Quepem zone final.
