CANACONA: Guardian Angel, Sanvordem rallied to trounce Navelim Villagers 4-1 in 3rd Fr Bento memorial inter-village football tournament at SAG ground, Agonda-Canacona, Sunday. Navelim Villagers led 1-0 at half time.
Navelim surged ahead through Alester Gomes in the 25th minute.
After the breather, Guardian Angel put up a spirited fight back and raided the rival citadel umpteen times. Melvito Fernandes registered a hat-trick scoring goals in the 40th, 44th and 49th minutes, while Ausern Fernandes scored the fourth goal in the 52nd minute.
Melvito’s hat-trick is the first one so far in the tournament, which helped his team to oust the strong contenders.
