PANJIM: Guirdolim Club scored a resounding 8-2 win over Maina Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match, played at Chandor Church ground, on Saturday.
It was Maina SC who took the lead in the sixth minute through Alyward Mascarenhas. Guirdolim had a different plan altogether as they allowed their opponents to enjoy initial possession play and once they understood their opponent’s play, they levelled terms through Irfan Yadwad in the 23rd minute and Christopher Cardozo doubled the tally in the 37th minute.
Edgar Noronha took advantage of the side’s dominance as he scored team’s third goal with a sublime solo-effort to give his side a two-goal cushion at the break.
Crossing over, it was Maina SC once again who scored through Alyward. But then on it was totally Guirdolim affair as they scored five more goals through Irfan and Christopher doubles and Nevil Pinto also got onto the scoresheet to hand their Club President Patwin Fizerdo a perfect birthday gift.
GFA U-16 LEAGUE
Churchill Brothers SC thumped Pax of Nagoa 10-0 in the GFA U-16 League match.
Aditya Salgaokar scored a fine hat-trick while Nathan Rodrigues, Arnold Oliveira, M Fernandes, Aniket Kerkar, Saideep Pomburpnekar, Puskar Prabhu and Sheik Tahir were the other goal getters for the winners. The Varca-based team led 2-0 at the break.
Meanwhile, Salgaocar FC scored a 6-0 win over Ave Maria. Crasly Luis netted a brace while Joswel Cardozo, Beckham Dias and Anwil Costa also got onto the scoresheet.
