CALANGUTE: Holy Cross, Arambol prevailed over Football Club Siolim 6-5 via the tie-breaker to book their place in the final of Xetrapal Cup Soccer organized by Xetrapal Sports Club, at Xetrapal ground, Oxel-Siolim, on Saturday. The teams were locked 1-1 at full time.
Siolim forged ahead in the sixth minute through hardworking Mayur Toraskar. Stung by the reverse, Arambol went all out in search of the equalizer but their forwards failed to score.
Changing ends, Sylvester Dias levelled the scores in the 40th minute beating the rival keeper with a deft placement.
In the final quarter, the teams provided end-to-end action but their strikers failed to score the match-winner and the tie had to be settled down in the penalty shoot-out.
Arambol boys kept their nerves to romp home winners by 5-4. Sunny D’Souza, Sylvester Dias, Sashank Asvekar, Vitorino D’souza and Amit Fernandes converted for Arambol while Salim
Shirodker, Pralahad Mandrekar, Ajay Simepuruskar and Arnold Fernandes were on target for Siolim.
