SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Holy Cross Boyz, Boriewado defeated Two Cross Boys 2-1 to move into the next round of the 15th Sao Jose de Areal inter-ward football tournament organized by Holy Cross Association, Mugalli at Padribhat ground, on Sunday.
There was no score in the first half.
Holy Cross Boyz and Two Cross Boys from the start when into the attacking mode and tried their best to overpower each other by scoring the first goal but in vain.
Their strikers missed good scoring opportunities on couple of occasions.
After the lemon break, both the teams tried to score but the defence played a pivotal role in defending their citadels. But as the match progressed, the deadlock was broken by Holy Cross Boyz in the 40th minute with Ali Shaik’s rasping right footer which curled into the nylons of Two Cross Boys.
Thereafter, Two Cross Boys trying their best to equalise got the opportunity through Meliston Fernandes’ rasping drive in the 45th minute to make it 1-1.
In the 50th minute, Holy Cross Boyz scored the match winner through Pisiton Vaz.
