FATORDA: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao blanked Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal 7-0 to move into the semi-finals of the U-14 boys Subroto Mukherjee football tournament held at the Astroturf ground, Fatorda, on Saturday.
Arnold Oliveira, scored a hat-trick for Holy Spirit Institute while the Bethany team missed out four goals scoring chances in the first half and three in the second half. Holy Spirit Institute scored early through Nathan Rodrigues and Anish Gadar made it 2-0.
Holy Spirit capitalised on their goal scoring opportunities and scored through Arnold Oliveira’s left footed strike making it 3-0.
Holy Spirit Institute were dictating the terms of the play with Arnold scoring two more goals to complete his hat-trick. Oscar Braganza made it 7-0 for Holy Spirit in the last quarter of the match.
In another match at Duler Stadium, St Britto HS Mapusa defeated Assagaon Union HS by 1-0. Both the teams played a skilful match however St Britto’s netted the solitary goal. St Anthony HS Guirim defeated SFX HS Siolim 2-0. After the goalless first half the Guirim side scored both the goals through Franco Andrade.
