MARGAO: Hosts Chandor Club rallied to beat Union of Chinchinim Villagers 5-2 via the tie-breaker and storm into the quarter-finals of All-Goa 40th Chandor Seamen Trophy inter-village football tournament organized by Chandor Club at Chandor ground, Sunday. Chandor Club trailed 0-1 at half time.
Union of Chinchinim Villagers started on a positive note with their forwards repeatedly raiding the rival goal. Their persistent forays paid dividends when Nickson Rebello bulged the net.
Crossing over, Chandor Club galvanised their attacks and showed urgency in their approach with their forwards calling the shots against the rival citadel. Their efforts finally bore fruit when Hansen Moura equalized when his snap shot beat the rival goalkeeper.
In the tie-breaker, John D’Costa, Ivan Pinto, Joswan Dias and Moses found the mark for Chandor while only Daniel Rebello converted for Chinchinim.
