PONDA: The office-bearers of All Goa Karate Association (AGKA), who were accused of forcing a 17-year-old boy to surrender silver medal and certificate, handed over the medal and certificate to Ponda Police, Tuesday afternoon.
It may be recalled that the mother of the boy, who had won silver medal at the first north Goa District Level Karat-Do Championship at Peddem-Mapusa, on Sunday filed a complaint with Ponda Police claiming that the AGKA office bearers forcibly took the medal and certificate on March 29 night.
The mother had also stated that her son was threatened and was forced to write a surrender letter saying that the medal was given without participating in the event.
The Ponda Police on Monday summoned the AGKA members and asked them to hand over the seized medal and certificate. Police also asked the AGKA members to follow proper procedure if at all there were any discrepancies in awarding the medal.
Along with the silver medal and certificate, the AGKA office bearers have also handed two bronze medals that were also taken by them. The medals and certificate were later given to the boy.
However, the AGKA, which did not hand over the `surrender letter’ written by the boy has given an undertaking to Ponda Police that it will be handed over in a couple of days.
