KORGAO, PERNEM: Vinay Vijay Harji from Keri, Pernem, who led India to victory at the South Asia Football Federation U-20 tournament in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, earlier this year, was felicitated by Navchetna Yuva Sangh, Pernem.
He was feted in the presence of President Krishna Palyekar, local sarpanch Sulaksha Talkar, panchayat members and local fans.
“It’s our pride that a youth of Pernem taluka, is getting acclaim at national and international level, especially since he comes from a remote village.
“We hope he continues making his parents and Pednekars proud,” Krishna Palyekar of Navchetan Yuva Sangh said.
Harji, who also played in a U-20 tournament in Kuwait, said, “I give credit to my parents, coaches and friends who supported and encouraged me. I started playing football when I was in primary school and later joined GFDC and Dunes. In 2017, I was selected for Dempo and now I am here.”
“This felicitation means a lot to me. I am committed to inspire youth by working hard,” said Harji.
