PANJIM: Ketki Naik and Uma Korgaonkar emerged women’s doubles winners at the 2nd women’s doubles badminton tournament, organised by Inner Wheel Club of Mapusa.
The winners edged out Ramona D’ Souza and Maymol Rockey 15-12, 8-15, 15- 11 in a closely fought final played at Peddem, Mapusa.

Shambhavi Rao / Hina Kunji and Shailaja Kohli / Audrey Pereira settled for third place (losing semi finalist) prizes.
In the power smashers contest, Asmita kandolkar, Priyanka Fernandes, Steffi Fernandes and Sonali Bhatt emerged in the top 4 places respectively.
The tournament was organised for amateurs with a thought to bring the working ladies / housewives out of their regular routine, motivate them for physical fitness and explore themselves.
Altogether 58 women participated in the tournament which was organised in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA).
Joshua D’ Souza, Mapusa MLA, Poonam Govekar, President of Inner wheel club of Mapusa, Sachin Mense were present for the valedictory function.
