The teams were locked goalless at half time and the all-important goal for Khobra Vaddo came five minutes before the final whistle from the boots of Thomas D’Souza.
The winners and runners-up were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively along with the trophies. Individual prizes were awarded to Best forward Damian Silveira (Maddo Vaddo), First Scorer Thomas D’Souza (Khobra Vaddo), Best Defender Domnick Pereira (Maddo Vaddo), Best Goalkeeper Nicholas D’Souza (Khobra Vaddo) Best Disciplined team Naika Vaddo, Best Half Anthony Silveira (Maddo Vaddo), Outstanding player of the tournament Francis Fernandes (Saunta Vaddo).
Chief guest Adv Francis Sousa, ex-President of Calangute Association and guest of honour Fr Cipriano Da Silva, parish priest of St Alex Church, Calangute gave away the prizes. Also present were special invitees Gajanan Kerkar, GFA executive member; Alex Miranda, ex Dempo SC footballer; Digamber Haldankar, ex Salgaoncar footballer; Anthony D’Souza, ex Sesa footballer, Marcelino Fernandes, ex Dempo engineer and footballer and Romeo Mascarenhas.
Earlier, Agnelo Silveira introduced the chief guest and other dignitaries to the match officials and players. Salis Fernandes welcomed and compered.
