junior girls, junior boys and senior girls team championship title at the 1st All-Goa Inter-School Table Tennis team championship for all the educational boards for the 11 Event sports trophies organized by Goa Table Tennis association in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Indoor Stadium, Campal, here, recently.
Loyola School, having in their ranks India ranked sub junior Wesley Rosario won against GS Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa with Wesley winning both his matches and partnering Ravind Kudchadcar won the crucial doubles tie wrapping it up 3-0. Earlier, Loyola beat Sharada Mandir 3- 0 in the semi-finals.
India’s number six ranked Tanisi Kirtani spearheaded the challenge for Monovikas to emerge victorious in the junior girl’s team championship. Ably supported by Nicole Ferrao beating St. Joseph Institute, Vasco 3-1. In the semi-finals, Manovikas beat Vidya Vikas High School Margao 3-1.
In the junior boys section, Sharada Mandir, having State ranked players Vaidik Srivastava , Nilay Kamat and Paru Rastogi lifted the 11 event trophy by beating Sunshine World Wide School, Old Goa 3- 0.
Faneied Urmila Mense and Pruha Parrikar playing for Saraswat Vidyalaya had to sweat it out before beating the combination of Arya Divekar and Akshata Nair 3- 1. Saraswat had also a close encounter to beat Isha Bhandari and Shalaka Naik of St. Joseph Institute Vasco, narrowly beating them 3-2 in the semi-finals.
In all, 32 teams with 120 players participated and prizes were awarded to the winners, runners-up and semi-finalists.
President of Goa Table Tennis Association, Adv. Vero Nunes along with General Secretary, Vishnu Kolwalker; treasure Suresh Bhangui and executive member Sudin Verenkar distributed the prizes. Amay Lawande proposed the vote of thanks.
