VELIM: Maina SC defeated SC Davorlim 4-2 to move into the final of the Velim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Sports and Welfare Club of Zaino Velim played at St Francis Xavier Church ground, Velim, on Monday.
Davorlim’s Joe Gomes sent in a long ball to Mark Borges who rose high and took a glancing header which crushed into nets in the 4th minute.
Davorlim’s Robin Colaco’s long ranger hit the Maina net in the 10th minute.
Davorlim doubled the lead through Robinsons Colaco’s grounder in the 13th minute.
In the second half, Maina coach Angelis changed the game plan and brought Milagres Fernandes and Jessel Carneiro in the forward line.
The plan worked and Jessel Carneiro netted to make 1-2 for Maina in the 46th minute. Milagres Fernandes fired from close range to equalise for Maina in the 53rd minute.
Three minutes later, Jessel Carneiro made it 3-2 for Maina while Aaren Fernandesin made it 4-2 for Maina in the 56th minute.
