MARGAO: Majorda Hockey (men) emerged as the winners after defeating Young Sports -Mapusa in the Hockey’s 5’s state championship 2020-21, organised by Goans Hockey, at DSYA ground, Seraulim.
Majorda Hockey, found the net through Omkar Naik in the second minute.
After resumption of play, during the second half, Omkar added two more goals to take the lead to make it 3-0. In the last quarter, Ayyaz and Shubham Haldankar reduced the margin by pumping in two quick goals. Pranit scored the last goal to make the issue safe with 4-2 goals to win the title.
While in the women section, Crozan Society, Bastora beat Young Sports, Mapusa by solitary goal scored by Manjitha Vaz .
The chief guest for the final was Xavier Marquis (President of Goan Hockey Association) while Nelly Rodrigues, Principal MES Higher Secondary School was the guest of honour. Both of them gave away the prizes and trophies to the winners in the presence of Anjulo P. Fernandes (Vice president) and Benny Vieages (Secretary of Goan Hockey Association).
