Max Veterans were well served by former international and national players namely Derrick Pereira, Lawrence Gomes, Santan Colaco, Mario Soares and Alfred Fernandes. They held the upper hand especially in the opening sessions and took the lead in the 10th minute when former India defender Derrick slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Post resumption, Max Veterans continued to enjoy the batter share of exchanges but their forwards misfired from close range.
With time running out, Ponda Veterans made a last ditch effort and Vincent Colaco equalized.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Roque Carneiro, Shaikh Aboo, Alfred Fernandes and Xavier Colaco were on target for Max Veterans while Vishant Pednekar and Cosme Oliveira scored for Ponda Veterans. Vishant Pednekar of Ponda Veterans was adjudged Man-of-the-match. Max Veterans will now meet Curtorim Veterans in the final, on November 22.
