MAPUSA: Hosts Moira Veterans managed to edge past Excel Rovers Veterans by 2-1 margin to advance into the semis of the Veterans tournament organized by Moira Veterans played at Moira Club ground, on Sunday.
Moira Veterans surged ahead in the 10th minute when a free-kick taken by Eddie was tapped into the goal by Rosario Carvalho to give his side the lead.
The Excel Rovers regrouped themselves and found the equaliser in the 20th minute where Seby Vaz scored with a neat placement.
On crossing over, Moira Veterans were better organised and scored their second goal in the 52nd minute where Patricio Mascarenhas found Mario just inside the penalty box who beat the onrushing keeper to make it 2-1.
Excel Rovers Veterans tried their level best to level terms but the last line of Moira defence managed to hold to their one goal lead till the final whistle.
Moira Veterans will take on Vasco Veterans in semis on December 20.
