The rivals provided end-to-end action but the match-winner eluded them. Rising Stars created the first chance as Vinesh Mazumdar set up Naveed Shah in the very second minute but the latter’s shot hit the goalpost and rebounded back to play but Sachin Borkar of Mormugao United cleared the ball to safety.
Ambrose Trindade of Mormugao United came close to scoring in the sixth minute but his left-footer went wide.
Subsequently, Rising Star SC had another go but Basurajan Harijan saw his header sail over the cross piece of Mormugao United in the 35th minute off a cross from Laxman Ugrame.
Change of ends saw both teams scoring a goal each. Naveed Shah of Rising Star rose high to head a ball received from Vinesh Kumar inside the penalty area but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper of Mormugao United.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 49th minute as Rising Star SC were awarded a penalty which was calmly converted by Basurajan Haijan.
In the 70th minute, Mormugao United equalized as unmarked Ambrose Trindade placed the ball into the Rising Star SC open goal after being served on the platter by Sachin Borkar.
