CHINICHINIM: Mount Mary High School defeated Infant Jesus High School 3-1 to move into the next round of the All Goa Inter-School Under-17 invitational football tournament 2015-16 to commemorate and honour St Joseph Vaz organised by Mount Mary’s School and Higher Secondary School at Chinchinim Church ground, on Monday.
In the first half, Infant Jesus High School were leading 1-0. Infant Jesus HS took the lead through Royston D’Silva’s full volley placement shot in the 10th minute off a supply by Meclon Fernandes. Thereafter, Mount Mary’s High School squandered an opportunity to score in the 30th minute through Demson Fernandes off a cross by Shambu Hadapal.
Crossing over, Mount Mary High School increased the volume in the front line to equalise in the 47th minute through Hadapal.
Mount Mary High School doubled the lead through Demson Fernandes ground shot. Further, Mount Mary High School in the 50th minute added to their tally to 3-1 through Melido Rebello. Earlier, Jeslly Pereira, ex-MPT footballer, inaugurated the tournament in the presence of other dignitaries.
