MERCES: Temba registered a narrow 1-0 win over Camribhatt B in the 4th Pogo Boys Rolling Trophy, organised by Pogo Boys, Merces, played at Merces Church ground, Merces, on Sunday.
Aston’s first half strike separated the two teams.
Both the teams started the match on equal footings. However, Temba’s Kenned tried his luck from the half line mark but Camribhat keeper managed to hold onto the ball.
In the 11th minute, Temba’s Kevin came close to scoring when he headed corner kick taken by Kenned but much to his dismay the ball hit the post and went out for a goal kick.
Minutes later, Temba’s Aston scored to give his side 1-0 lead. Aston smashed in a free kick from the centreline giving no chance for Camribhatt goalkeeper.
Temba’s Aston could’ve scored from yet another free kick but teammate Kevin knicked the ball before it entered the goal, forcing the referee to flag the latter offside.
Temba’s Kevin tryed desperately to get his name on the scoresheet as he was impressive upfront. He connected to Francis long delivery which was brilliantly collected by the rival keeper. Temba led 1-0 at the break.
Post resumption, Temba’s Kenned had a go at goal but his effort was saved by Camribhat keeper Dattaraj.
Temba’s Augistin tred a right footer but Carmibhat’sDattaraj made yet another save. Camribhat’s Yogesh had the first shot for his team but Temba custodian, who was hardly tested in the 1st half made a wonderful save.
Kishi of Carmibhatt supplied some good balls from the back but his teammates were unable to put those balls to good use.
Temba’s Anthony had a good chance to score after a lovely ball to him by teammate Augistin, but he shot wide.
