PANJIM: The 36th National Games date remain unchanged and are scheduled to take place next year from March 30 to April 14 in Goa as decided earlier as the various State sports associations secretaries came together to discuss and plan on the conduct of the Games. Most of the associations were present with the exception of the sport of Football, Baseball, Netball and Shooting.
Speaking to the media, Goa Olympic Association General Secretary Gurudatta Bhakta informed, “The dates of the Games remain unchanged and will be held as per schedule.”
When asked whether the Lok Sabha elections would affect the functioning of the Games and could cause further delay, Bhakta replied that nothing would affect the Games.
The meeting addressed by the Secretary of Sports Ashok Kumar briefed the State sports associations in regards to the conduct of the Games in consultation with the Federation.
The State associations have been asked to prepare a list of events to be held as per the Olympic/Asian Games standards and project the number of participants (athletes) for the respective events. They have been asked to project the admissible number of Team Officials and number of Technical officials.
The associations were also instructed to seek approval of the venue plan from the Competition Directors and Federation with respect to the National Games only and also to prepare and submit the draft event schedule along with the Directors of Competition, compile and submit the final list of sports equipment and competition management requirement after discussions with the Directors of Competition and the Federations.

It was also decided that a Nodal Officer of the association who would be the single point of contact for all communication needs to be nominated with an assistant if need be.
As informed, the Directors of Competition would be attending a meeting in Goa from October 3 to 5, for which the associations would also require to be present for the same.
