NAVELIM: Navelim SC defeated Sirvodem SC 2-0 in the GFA 3rd Division football match played at Navelim ground, on Friday.
Both nearby wards teams displayed an attacking style football in the first half with referee Merywn Tellis controlling the proceedings with his foot down attitude.
Lisbon Gomes and Christopher Vaz worked out a good set piece in the tenth minute for Sirvodem SC but Lisbon’s power drive shot was denied by the woodwork of Navelim SC.
Daclan Fernandes of Navelim SC connected to the ball sent in by Blaze Gomes in the 18th minute but Freddy Niasso for Srvodem tackled his move.
Navelim SC’s Lesle Costa’ header ballooned over in the 20th minute.
Navelim SC Coach Ashok Shivolkar and Aluzio Fernandes worked out a tricky set up in the second session with lots of movements on both flanks while Sirvodem SC adopted fast track moves.
A defensive lapses cost Sirvodem SC dearly as Navelim took advantage of the situation to score two quick goals which came through the boots of Daclan Fernandes in the 70th minute and from Leslie Costa of beautiful supplies from Darren Peixoto and Joe Dias respectively.
In another match, at Ambelim ground, Dicarpale SC defeated Dramapur SC 7-2.
Reeve, and Jeremaih scored a brace each in the 40th, 84th, 60th and 66th minutes respectively while Denvy, Valmiki and Ryan scored a goal each for Dicarpale SC.
Whereas Joyrun and Prinson were the goal scorers for Dramapur SC.
