MARGAO: Navelim SC defeated Cuncolim Union 1-0 goal to move into the final of the 16th Fr Basilio Andrade memorial football tournament, organized by Associacao Academica de Majorda, Utorda-Calata, at Musson ground, Majorda, on Friday. There was no score in the first session.
In the first half, Navelim SC should have scored through Avlon Gomes in the 22nd minute but his header missed the target.
Thereafter, Cuncolim Union attacked through Deepak Velip but the latter’s shot fell straight into the hands of Navelim SC goalkeeper in the 27th minute.
Post resumption, Navelim SC changed their strategy and broke the deadlock through Alister Gomes in the 50th minute of an assist by Avlon Gomes. Deepak Velip of Cuncolim Union shot wide of a supply by Frazier Fernandes in the 61st minute.
