PANJIM: Navelim Villagers Union defeated United Club of Utorda 3-1 in 2nd Jose Memorial all-Goa inter-village football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at Curtorim grounds.
Betu Singh opened the account for Navelim in the 9th minute through a long pass from right corner by Allister Pereira.
Soon after Utorda missed a golden opportunity as their striker Joel Monteiro shot wide from hand shaking distance.
Navelim increased the lead in the 35th minute through Avlon Gomes.
Alvito Colaco punched the final nail in the coffin in the 45th minute via a power packed shot from 25 yards which hit the cross bar before entering the net to make it 3-0 for Navelim.
Utorda reduced the margin in the 50th minute through Naveen Mendes who nicely placed the ball into the net after beating Navelim defender Alister Monteiro.
Utorda tried their level best but could not succeed due to strong Navelim defence.
