MAPUSA: United Club Nerul edged past Rossman Crus Sports Club, Nagoa-Verna 6-5 via tie-breaker to enter the semi-finals of 2nd Goan Heritage Rolling football trophy organized by Calangute Association at Poriat grounds, Calangute, Friday.
The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
The away team surged ahead in the fifth minute through man-of-the-match Eusebio Fernandes, who bulged the nylons off an assist by Ajay.
Nerul tried hard and worked their way back into the match before the lemon break as Xavier Clemente finished off a fine pass by Schubert.
Changing over, Nerul took the lead in the 50th minute as Manuel Crasto set up Xavier, who cleverly chipped over the onrushing rival custodian for his brace.
All was well for Nerul but their rivals left them stunned in the final minutes as keeper Siddhesh Morje couldn’t keep out Basilio’s scorching 20-yard free-kick.
In the tie-breaker, Felix Barretto, Manuel, Xavier and Russell Fernandes scored for Nerul while Sandy Pereira, Vishal Rego and Ajay Satardekar were on target for Rossman Cruz SC.
