PANJIM: Goa’s CM Nitish Belurkar (2090) held top seed Iniyan P (2299) of Tamil Nadu to a draw and then defeated Vatsal Singhania (1696) of Jharkhand to move to 3.5 points and sixth position at the end of the 4th round of 41st and 32nd National Sub-Junior (U-15) Open and Girl’s Chess championship, at Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday.
Gaurav Madkaikar (1733) was also in fine form as he held CM Rathanvel V S (2114) of Tamil Nadu and then defeating Saurabh Anand (2168) of Bihar to move to 3.5 points and settle at the ninth spot. G Madhavan, Vinayak Thevar and Milind Gauns are on two points while Harsh Sonawane is on one point
In the Girl’s section, Prabhugaonkar Aditee Aman (1690) from Goa defeated Garima Gaurav (1364) and Tanya Pandey (1505) to move to three points. Thorat Aishwarya (1531) defeated Palorkar Riddhi (1214) and then lost to Sumyukta C M N (1824) to be on two points. Gaayathri S (1236) defeated Priyanka Sharma and Sarah Gayle Fernandes defeated Siya Sagar (1106) to move to two points each.
