MARGAO: Nuvem Veterans uncorked champagne as they trounced Colva Veterans 3-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa 8-a-side veterans football tournament, organized by Chinchinim Veterans, at Sucaldem ground, Chinchinim, Sunday.
Nuvem Veterans led 1-0 at half time.
Nuvem dominated the game and set up the pace as early in the 10th minute when former Dempo Sports Club defender Xavier Colaco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Stung by that setback, Colva tried their best to neutralized the lead but failed to get past their rival strong rearguard.
Crossing over, Nuvem continued to dictate terms and kept their opponents on the back foot in the second session.
Nuvem doubled the lead soon after resumption when Constancio Rodrigues received the through pass from Xavier and the former beat the rival goalkeeper with deft placement.
The 2-0 cushion boosted the morale of Nuvem as they intensified their attacks with Constancio again hitting the last nail into rival coffin to complete his brace.
