Pakistan’s T20 Disaster Turns Ugly: Player Accused of Hotel Misconduct in Kandy

The Pakistan national cricket team endured a disastrous campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and now controversy has followed them off the pitch.

Despite playing all their matches in Sri Lanka, Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals, triggering fines from the Pakistan Cricket Board. But a more troubling development has now surfaced. Reports suggest that an unnamed player allegedly harassed a female housekeeping staff member at the Golden Crown Hotel in Kandy.

The alleged incident took place between February 25 and 28, just before Pakistan’s decisive Super Eight encounter against Sri Lanka national cricket team. The staff member reportedly raised an alarm, drawing colleagues to the scene before matters could escalate.

Team manager Naveed Cheema is said to have stepped in quickly, apologising to hotel authorities. Insiders claim the player could have faced severe consequences had the situation spiralled further.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan also lost to a England cricket team side captained by Harry Brook in Pallekele.

With disciplinary action expected, Pakistan’s turbulent World Cup story has taken yet another damaging turn.
