Panjim Footballers get the better of Sesa FA

MAPUSA: Panjim Footballers got the better of Sesa Football Academy by a 4-3  margin in the ninth round match of the GFA’s Professional League match, at Sirsaim ground, on Sunday.
At half-time, Panjim led by a comfortable 3-0 margin.
Panjim colts took the lead in the 18th minute when Alston Camotio sent the ball across to Chandan Gawas who brilliantly controlled the ball before firing it home.
In the 32nd minute, Sesa came teasingly close to levelling terms however Shajam’s powerful shot was pushed away by the acrobatic Panjim keeper Preston Rego.
Panjim fired in two quick goals where first in the 36th minute Lloyd Cardozo hoodwinked the off-side trap and lobbed the ball over the Sesa keeper to make it 2-0.
Two minutes later, Panjim further inflated the margin with Lloyd scoring his brace after being set up by Chandan Gawas to make it 3-0.
Couple of minutes before the half-time whistle, Sesa could have got a goal to their credit however Ben Johnson saw his strike hit the Panjim woodwork and then Richard’s shot went inches past the Panjim goal.
Changing ends, Sesa knowing the tough task ahead of them took the field with renewed vigor and ideas and got in their first goal in the 52nd minute when Kunal set up Richard who slammed the ball home to make it 3-1.
However, they were once again daunted by the Panjim colts who got in their fourth goal through Joyson to make it 4-1.
The Sesa lads refused to give up and fought tooth and nail and scored their second goal in the 67th minute through Stephen Colaco whose long range effort entered into the far corner of the Panjim goal to make it 4-2.
At the brink of regulation time, Sesa came made it 4-3 with Stephen Colaco scoring his brace.
