PANJIM: Panjim Sports Club scored a convincing 56 run victory over MLT Sanquelim in the Albert Developers 1st ALL -Goa Season Ball Cricket tournament match, at Sports Authority of Goa ground Campal, on Saturday.
Electing to bat first, Panjim SC scored a total of 214 runs for 4 in 20 overs with Illyas Nardo scoring 55 run while Robin DSouza (39) and Tushar Narvekar (15) bring the other top scorers for the Panjim side.
MLT Sanquelim were unable to chase the target down and ended with only 159 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Sunny Kanekar (21) and Mahadev Merkar (22) were the top scorers for the Sanquelim side.
Panjim SC bowled well with Krishna Uzgaonkar picking four wickets while Tushar Narverak picked up two wickets for his side.
Robin D’Souza of Panjim SC was awarded the Man-of-the-Match.
Nityananda Sports Club defeated Gumteshwar Sports Club by four wickets to move ahead in the ongoing tournament.
Electing to bat first, Gumteshwar SC managed to put up a score of 123 runs in 20 overs before they were bowled out in 19.5 overs.
Nagappa Konur scored 24 runs off 26 balls while Paul scored 17 runs for Gumteshwar SC.
Whereas bowling from the other end, Niyananda SC’s Vikrant Prabhu picked four wickets while Gurish Naik took 2 wickets to restrict the rivals score.
Nityanada’s Mahesh Rao scored 48 runs while Apali Kalangutkar scored 19 runs to help them win the match. Vikrant Prabhu was awarded the Man-of-the-Match prize.
